 What is Mental Health

Mental health is as vital as physical health for everyone of us. It's not only about mental sickness or mental diseases; it's part of a larger picture. Rather than thinking of people as either mentally sick or mentally well, it's helpful to conceive of mental health as a continuum. We are all on a continuum, and we move up and down depending on factors such as our genetics and upbringing, our life circumstances, and the stress we are under. On one end of the continuum, we have mental disorders such as depression or anxiety, and on the other end, we have states of positive mental health in which we are thriving and fulfilling the goal of mental health.

Mental health, according to the World Health Organization, is a condition of well-being in which each individual fulfils his or her own potential, can cope with normal life stress, work creatively and fruitfully, and contribute to his or her community.

A healthy mind lets you learn, play and understand others. Everyone has good days and bad days. A bad day doesn't mean  you have a mental illness, but you can still improve your mental health.

Being mentally healthy means being resilient and to able to cope with difficult times and feeling in control, being confident, feeling good about yourself , managing and expressing your emotions. Maintaining good relationships.
